Tissue culture supervisor:
Full time, $11

Micro Paradox produces walnuts, cherries and other fruit tree rootstocks by tissue culture. 10-15 technicians are employed who perform transfer of plants in laminar flow hood, transplant micro plants to greenhouse and take care of plants in screen house and open field.

We are looking for an intelligent, enthusiastic and a responsible person who is willing to learn tissue culture procedures, interact with department manager and emerge as a leader to organize daily work and supervise technicians. The candidate will work closely with manager of tissue culture department and implement his directions.

The work involves working indoor as well as outdoors. Light lifting (30 pounds or so) is also involved.

Job duties:
1. Train technicians (laminar flow, tissue cutting, making transfers, making media, greenhouse planting as needed).
2. Maintain training logs
3. Effectively implement quality control activities (log sheets of temp, contamination, variety labels etc).
4. Tracking inventories of tissue culture containers, trays and plants
5. Maintain inventory of supplies
6. Make weekly schedule for the workers in consultation with TC manager.
7. Manage technicians and maintain friendly working environment.
8. Perform hands on work, as needed.
9. Implement fertilization schedules and pest control activities as directed by department manager.
