The American Lung Association in California is seeking a Statewide Program Manager to join its Sacramento office working directly with and reporting to the Vice President of Programs and Advocacy. The Program Manager will be responsible for providing support for the planning, developing, implementing and evaluating of the Lung Association mission programs. Additionally, this position is responsible for writing grants, securing funding and identifying corporate sponsorship opportunities as well as submitting timely and accurate reports for grant funded projects and programs. The ideal candidate will be energetic, highly motivated, and detail orientated, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
POSITION TITLE: Program Manager, Statewide
FTE: 1.0 (37.5 hrs/week)
SALARY: Salary commensurate with experience, plus full benefits packageEssential Functions:
1.Collaborate with the VP, Programs and Advocacy to organize and develop program systems, establishing priorities and developing measurable objectives and activities in alignment with the organization’s educational programs.
2.Monitor and evaluate program activities in order to achieve annual and long term targets and milestones. This includes compiling data and writing reports.
3.Research and secure funding to support the organization’s programs and activities through government, community, or foundation grants, including corporate grants, and identify corporate sponsorship opportunities.
4.Maintain close working relationships with staff and volunteers in implementing and evaluating educational programs.
5.Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
6.Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
7.Work with finance to gather information necessary to report to community, government, corporate, and foundation funders on current programs.
8.Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting and oversee data management and all reporting as required by the organization and program funding agencies.
9.Keep up to date and informed on current trends, resources and developments in lung disease prevention and control.
10.Understanding of institutional history and programs.
11.Assume other duties as assigned by the VP, Programs and Advocacy.Position Requirements/Skills/Knowledge:
•At least three to five years relevant experience in program coordination, including core skills in program implementation, grant writing and project management.
•Educational or previous experience in public health, lung health and/or environmental health is desired.
•Proven ability to work with a wide variety of organizations and settings, such as, public health agencies, community organizations and coalitions and in collaborative relationships.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment working cooperatively with peers and superiors.
•Ability to work effectively with diverse populations (economic, cultural, and social).
•Highly organized with an attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
•Skilled at group discussion and facilitation.
•Proven writing and editing skills.
•Strong written and oral communications.
•Ability to anticipate needs and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
•Self-motivated; ability to work independently, meet deadlines and take initiative on projects
•Willingness and ability to speak before public gatherings and the media.
