As a Linux System Administrator at Micron, you will take ownership of an existing computing environment that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the world’s most advanced silicon designs. You will be a self-starter that can identify opportunities then develop and assimilate various technologies to improve the services we provide.
As part of a group of 5-10 senior administrators and developers, you will work closely with others and will be expected to be both a participant and a leader at times. You will provide support to silicon design and product engineers locally and globally, in person or electronically via tickets, phone, email, IM, etc. You will also interface with vendors and suppliers occasionally.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Supporting services based on internal and 3rd party software that comprise the enterprise design computing environment, such as databases, CAD tools, job schedulers and automation.
Handling incidents and user requests to maintain the availability and performance of services.
Improving software and services through planning and executing projects or participating in larger projects.
Creating clear documentation and providing training to support users.
Skills in current technologies, particularly automation in Perl or similar languages.
Ability to compile and support open source Linux software.
Hardware experience (Preferred), though this position is primarily focused on software solutions.A successful candidate will have:
Linux or similar UNIX operating systems: installation, configuration & administration.
Scripting (shell, Perl, TCL) or programming.
Solid educational foundation in a wide variety of Computer Science fundamentals.
Skills in current technologies, particularly automation in Perl or similar languages.
Ability to compile and support open source Linux software.
Hardware experience (Preferred), though this position is primarily focused on software solutions.
Strong personal interest in technology and awareness of industry standards or best-known methods.
Systematic problem solving skills.
Attention to detail (organizing information, being accurate).
Abilities to display strong customer focus and commitment to customer support.
Demonstrated commitment to quality (including testing and validation).
Strong planning, prioritizing, goal setting skills.
CAD/EDA tools & licenses. (Preferred)
VMware or similar virtualization. (Preferred)
MySQL or other database administration, tuning. (Preferred)
UNIX Programming (C/C++, make, lint, web-based or traditional applications). (Preferred)
UNIX System Internals (IPC, file locks, memory management, performance tuning). (Preferred)
Silicon/IC Design Engineering or Manufacturing industry experience. (Preferred)
Ability to take initiative. (Preferred)
Capacity for continuous learning (easily learns and demonstrates learned skills). (Preferred)
Strong communication skills (including in a team). (Preferred)
Demonstrated commitment to task. (Preferred)
Ability to handle ambiguity. (Preferred)
Proven ability to be innovative. (Preferred)
Education:
