Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or as needed to successfully accomplish the essential functions of these positions. Overtime is anticipated and may be required.
Travel Required: Varies, up to 50%
Work Location: West Sacramento, CA OfficeSUMMARY: This position will be based in West Sacramento, CA, supporting the Senior Project Manager(s) in performing historical research and data collection as needed to document and monitor the environmental restoration Activities and provide support for the investigation into potential sources of pollution, including those that affect human health and the environment. Under direction of the Senior Project Manager or other Senior Staff, may collect samples of soil, water, and other matrices for testing and implement corrective actions as assigned. Responsible for field documentation of data collected from the site investigations activities.

The Junior Environmental Scientist’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Collect samples soil, water, hazardous waste, and other matrices for laboratory analysis and source characterization.
• Collect and record field measurements (e.g., temperature, specific conductance, turbidity) and document field conditions.
• Prepare detailed field notes and records regarding site conditions and field activities and prepare reports, summaries, and charts that interpret test results.
• Prepare and maintain files such as hazardous waste inventories, chemical usage data, personnel exposure information and diagrams showing field conditions equipment locations.
• Prepare reports and other written documentation summarizing findings of field activities or historical records research.COMPETENCIES

• Basic computer skills.EDUCATION
• A bachelors degree’s (BA/BS) degree in a physical science such as geology, biology, environmental science, physics or a related field plus one (1) year of experience. This is an entry level position.Other Requirements
Flexibility to work outside normal working hours and the ability to communicate effectively with people in all areas of a company is vital. The Junior Environmental Scientist needs to maintain civility in the face of multiple problems, and be willing to reassess and reorganize when traditional solutions aren’t working. A successful candidate is and organized individual who is not easily distracted, and yet is willing to adapt when change is called for.
