Insurance Fraud Investigator (Citrus Heights, CA)

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) is currently seeking an Insurance Fraud Investigator who will provide services to include review of suspicious insurance claims, gather relevant evidence/information, strategize cases, prepare reports and develop recommendations for case handling. They will assign and direct field investigations conducted by Probe’s SIU field team, review surveillance film and compare to medical report, provide deposition strategy and focus on creating positive outcomes. The Investigator will provide strategic direction including consulting on suspicious and/or problematic claims, stopping unwarranted benefits and successfully fighting insurance fraud including claimant, premium and provider fraud (80% Workers’ Compensation). They will complete SIU reports, prosecution packages, restitution proposals, coordination with law enforcement and testify at criminal proceedings. They will attend anti-fraud trainings and conferences. This position requires integrity, confidentiality, good judgment, solid decision making abilities and a passion for fighting fraud. Superior written and verbal communication skills are mandatory as this position requires high-level report preparation and formal written communication. This position also requires the ability to learn quickly and thrive in a dynamic work environment where every day is different and presents new challenges.

The Fraud Investigator will work as a member of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Probe’s headquarters located in Sacramento (Citrus Heights) and conduct internal investigations into suspicious insurance fraud cases (80% WC cases; 20% other lines). They will analyze surveillance film, medical records, investigative evidence and other evidence to prepare professional reports that summarize the suspected fraud. They will provide recommendations that are beneficial to the claim, create positive financial outcomes for our clients and consistently build strong relationships with our clients and law enforcement. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize data into a professional report are mandatory. Experience in the legal, investigation, law enforcement, internal fraud, medical and/or insurance industry is beneficial.Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree strongly preferred; IEA classes or other continuing education a plus
• Workers’ Compensation experience/knowledge is beneficial
• Experience in law enforcement, insurance fraud or other white-collar crime a plus
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with clients and law enforcement
• Advanced verbal and written communication abilities are mandatory
• Strong ability to analyze and synthesize data into a professional report
• Strong computer and typing skills; competent with computer applications
• Self-motivated and team oriented with ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
