Novartis in Vacaville has a contractor opportunity for a Datacenter Operations Manager who will be responsible to serve as the primary contact for all interaction with vendors who manage the server, SAN, tape backup, and network infrastructure on site. Changes and daily support to most of the infrastructure is usually carried out by these external vendors. However, some infrastructure will be maintained solely by the person in this role, so it will be required that the Datacenter Operations Manager have the technical skill set and ability to directly support all infrastructure, as well as business communication skills required for vendor management.
Duties:
• Responsible for the support and maintenance of all site IT infrastructure
• Primary contact for all contracted vendors supporting our site IT infrastructure
• Ensure vendors are meeting SLA’s for support and administration
• Lead or attend regular meetings with vendors to ensure they are meeting SLA’s
• Generate vendor KPI’s based on our established SLA’s Vs. requests / incidents
• Works closely with local IT management and business to coordinate and communicate planned and unplanned outages
• Responsible for reviewing, coordinating and approving infrastructure changes
• Ensure proper change management is maintained for all infrastructure
• Ensure infrastructure inventory list is maintained and up to date
• Ensure infrastructure map is maintained and up to date
• Responsible for Infrastructure disaster recovery program
• Lead or contribute to infrastructure related assessments and audits as required
• Implement and maintain monitoring system for all infrastructure devices
• Promptly respond to alerts generated from infrastructure components or vendors

Required Skills:
• Minimum 2 years management experience (local team members and/or vendors)
• Minimum 4 years exp. as Server and/or Network Admin, or equivalent certification(s)
• Ability to create detailed technical documentation, presentations, and reports
