Data Center Engineer (Santa Rosa, CA)

  • Working closely with the Senior Data Center Engineer, designs, configures, installs, administers and maintains the Association’s file server Infrastructure and network operating systems. Other responsibilities include technical support to other I.T. staff, documenting infrastructure, processes, policies and procedures, one-on-one technical training as well as other duties involved in the day-to-day operations of the I.T. Department.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1) Under general direction, design, install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, test, monitor, and analyze the performance of the associations file servers, Exchange servers, Sequel Database Servers, and other application servers. Provide detailed usage, storage, and system performance to management.

    2) Administration of the Association’s network directories, backup systems, Virtual Infrastructure, Storage Area Network and other related applications.

    3) Performs research, installation, testing and evaluation of new information systems technologies related to network infrastructure.

    4) Assist in maintaining the association’s information systems hardware and software inventory as well as software license monitoring.

    5) Provide technical support and training to other I. T. staff in the areas of network usage and performance.

    6) Assist in the creation and maintenance of processes, standards, policies and procedures as they relate to network infrastructure.

    Performs other functions that may be assigned.

    LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:

    Exercises no supervision; regularly provides technical guidance and training; makes independent decisions; works under general direction.

    TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    1) BA/BS degree, with emphasis on computer science, management information systems or business; or equivalent.

    2) At least two years of related experience including demonstrated proficiency with VMWare, Storage Area Network (SAN) Administration, asynchronous, local-area network and wide-area network communications systems and their components, Internet and intranet technologies and computer security and data protection and backup systems.

    3) Familiarity/knowledge of personal computer software packages including all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Windows-based spreadsheet, word processing, database, e-mail, network monitoring and reporting, and other programs.

    4) Working knowledge of IBM compatible PC operation and hardware components.

    5) Working knowledge of Windows networking and operating system.

    6) Ability to install, upgrade and maintain all types of information systems.

    7) Excellent verbal, written, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    8) Proficiency organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.

    9) Travel required in performance of job.
