Biologist (minimum of 3 years experience)
Position: Biological Monitor/Environmental Inspector

Location: Monterey area, California office

Compensation: Hourly compensation plus overtime — Rate DOE

This is an as needed on-call position.

Job Summary:
Environmental Consulting Firm is seeking a mid-level biologist. You will be required to be proficient in field surveys and monitoring, as well as project coordination.

Education, Skill, & Experience Requirements:
Must have a Bachelors degree or preferably a Masters degree in Biology, Environmental Science or a closely related field;

Candidate must have at least 3 years of professional environmental consulting industry experience in California. Ability to understand and follow work plans, and document field activity;
Candidates must be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours in sometimes inclement weather conditions, including walking up to 10 miles per day, often in rugged terrain, and be able to carry various types of field equipment and supplies;
Must have the ability to use field tools and;
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record, and must comply with company safety policies;
Must have an understanding of California flora and/or fauna and a technical specialty such as avian species, reptiles and amphibians, or botany, and in-depth knowledge of wetland, riparian, or other habitats is preferred;

Experienced in wetland regulations and permitting, threatened and endangered species surveys, consulting with regulatory agencies.

Specialized experience in any or all of the below biological resources is required. Please note what specialized experience you have in your response.

- rare plants,
– wildlife and nesting bird surveys,
– CTS,
– burrowing owls,
– golden eagle,
– bats,
– American badger.

Experienced in wetland regulations and permitting, threatened and endangered species surveys, consulting with regulatory agencies.

Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in writing, via electronic media, and in conversation.

Responsibilities:
Preconstruction surveys, biological monitoring and regulatory compliance/permitting.
